spidersweb1Took The Adorable Puppy™ to the vet for a follow up. They did a mini-health profile, looking at some levels and so forth. Dr. W said his bloodwork was well within normal ranges, BUN, Glucose, ALP, total protein, ALT, and Creatine were also well within normal. His Na, K, and Cl were also normal. Fecal still tests negative.
So.
A food allergy is still on the table, but we seem to have ruled out cancer and renal failure (which would be part of Canine Addison's Disease. He's not ruling that out 100%, if I understood him correctly, but it has dropped waaaaay low on the list). Dr. W is voting for some sort of food allergy, with a secondary vote for occult parasitic infection.
Now that I have the image of parasites performing satanic rituals in my head...
So, we're off the Azulfidine for now. We did 10 days, we haven't had a major relapse, so we're watching. I have a refill and instructions to give if I have to. We have (another) 3 day dose of the powdered Panacur, in case of the second vote. We're on a mix of regular food and I/d food-- with the proportions in favor of the I/d.

We have had chasing of small, furry creatures, flushing of stupid doves, walking to the mail room, and a half-miler to the gym and back. He doesn't care about the I/d dog food, so long as I put a bare sprinkle of the regular on top. So, I'm crossing my fingers, praying, and hoping that this is the end of it.
